Comics, Cards, & Collectibles
The comic shop started in October of 1988 just after the beginning of my senior year at Shelby High School. It was a tiny 350-400 square foot 'office' down a long hallway in downtown Shelby. I started with about 9 long boxes of comics, a couple hundred 'decent' cards of all kinds baseball, football, basketball and some non-sport stuff like Star Wars. It was mostly stuff that was 'my extras' or stuff I could live without. The hope was that I could sell enough to make the rent and maybe end up with some gas money, and the ability to go to the movies or whatever a few times a month.
Little did I know that we would end up having to move to the 1200 sqare foot location on the street (an actual "Store" Front) at 232 South LaFayette St., within about 6 months as we had outgrown the little room and had a pretty good following of collectors.
Five years later, in 1992, we bought the building at 1 (101/103) West Warren St. on the courtsquare to expand again to a 4500 square foot comic shop with a video game/pool table arcade included. Though we closed the doors in 2008 and sold the building we have continued to sell some of the items on eBay and who knows, maybe after the computer carreer is over, I may look at reopening a little place to enjoy some nostalgia of the almost 20 years we had the business. Anyway, there are some pictures to enjoy below, as well as a link to our eBay Store and other stuff. If you have pictures of you at the old shop (any of the old shops!) please send me a copy of them. I'd love to post them here as well as just see them and hear from some of the people who have visited in the past!
THANKS!!
